The warnings came to an organization that rejects such things as God speaking through dreams. This is a reckoning the PCA must come to terms with. But still this dream infers that their lives were lived to the fullest.
“A few adults and children marching towards the chancel of a high looking church singing “When the saints go marching in, O I want to be in that number, when the saints go marching in. As they turned around the sanctuary they disappeared!” a series of dreams warning of murderous intent occurrence in a school w/o a high school.”
Thank you for these wise, tender words, Scott. Along with Ann Voskamp, you're my "internet pastor" too. Not to diminish the role of my local church where I'm an active member, but I'm grateful for a place to come online as well for a seasoned pastor's thoughtful perspective.
I remain remorseful and repentant over my 30 years of grief/loss responses to [only] 9 family graves. This reminder is rich with mercy and grace. And that remains, enough. Grateful. MMyers
A wise man once said the most honest prayer is "Dear God, WTF?"
After my wife of 35 years died, that's exactly what I prayed. I told God just exactly what I thought about him, and it wasn't pretty. And when I finished, I had the distinct impression that even in my grief, I was being held. And that was enough.
Thank you.
