This was a great way to talk about this. God should always be first. Worshipping a political party or candidate is only going to lead to trouble. These are important choices for us to make, as people with responsibility to ourselves, our fellow citizens, and our nation, but they aren’t the most important choice. Thank you, Scott.

Good thoughts! Thank you! I do think this election is not about liberal or conservative, though. It’s gone way beyond that for me. Whatever happens, God is in control and Jesus lives and there can be unity in that.

I was in the hotel last night studying an upcoming Bible study and this topic came up in my 'notes.' Then I read your blog this morning. AMEN! Shared it with my church family and linking to it in my blog as well. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this article. My heart longs for our nation to be unified once more. I am so weary of all of the vile rhetoric and mud slinging. I believe most people feel this way. We just want to live quiet simple lives. In a world that seems so out of control right now, we need to stand together. I confess to anxiety about this election, but then I remind myself of Who is on the throne. God is ultimately in control.

I could not agree more or articulate better. Idolatry of party or candidate in the name of Christ is deeply troubling. Conversely, following Him through Scripture and prayer brings light, hope, and peace.

Wonderful piece. I’m writing this after worship at HTB in London. We chose to visit today and it was a wonderful service. All nationalities and ages, and no doubt different political alignment, worshipping Jesus together. A reminder that Jesus transcends affiliations, tribes, and any other form of sorting!
