Really appreciate your bringing the goodness of God’s art, both painting (Pollock) and writing with Lewis, into a great Christmas message honoring our Savior. Christmas plus nothing else equals extreme beauty .
Humility. Brokenness. Those are escorts to a place where I am able to see beyond my preferences and sensibilities. That’s where hope and beauty meet. Oh the manger! How beautiful it is! Merry Christmas my friend. Always love hearing your voice. Praying for you all❤️
This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for writing it and blessing us with it. I’m often struck by how different God’s concept of beauty is over my own. I’m trying to allow Him to teach me HIS definitions and concepts of beauty and it’s SO fun! This was a wonderful little nugget to add into that bucket. Merry Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of THE Savior! Wonderful days ahead...
Call me ignorant or stupid, but I think you fell for some of the world's B.S. (remember the emperor's new clothes?). Pollack's art is no better than visual noise. What is amazing is what God did to create order out of chaos (Gen. 1:2), and what He does for the chaotic mess we made for ourselves. Jesus is the truly beautiful.
I can’t even imagine the beauty I’ve failed to see because of only looking at the surface of things without knowing the underlying storyline. Lord, turn off my omniscient mechanism that causes me to judge ever so quickly. Thanks Scott for the great eye opener.
I am still learning... Pollock is not on my favorites list. In fact, he is on no list. You state that we need to get close and intimate to understand. I am trying to understand your point and have quoted you on many occasions, but I would rather be intimate with the Triune God. then with the Triune Beast, Dragon, and Devil.
Thank you Scott, I really enjoyed the read, but I still don't care for Jackson Pollock's work.
Probably because I'm a Mechanical Engineer and think a kid could make one of his paintings ;-)
Perhaps he was mapping the messy chaotic acts of humankind; freely spreading our messy drips within the boundaries of the creation...
Scott. Words fail to express the wonder and beauty and mystery expressed here. Thank you fellow glorious ruin!
Thank you, Alison!
Wonderful! Praise be to God.

Thanks, JM. Love you, friend. Merry Christmas!
