I just realized while reading your piece that telling exiles to seek the good of their city is tantamount to telling them to love their enemy. Great writing.
Jane Armstrong, still discipling college women at Miami of Ohio, would routinely hammer home that this is a weekend in light of eternity. In my fifties now, and it routinely runs in my mind. She is a warrior for Jesus! Still running the race and getting more into the race for Jesus.
I see a beautiful thread of gratitude that you have graciously woven through this perfectly timed post! It’s a powerful reminder as Christ-followers to view our response to these difficult issues and times through the lens of Jesus’ sacrificial love for us. Thank you!
A wonderful and timely post. Whenever I read or hear the word "shalom," I glimpse that for which we are longing, and I am reminded of how we are to live as we pursue it. That greatly helps In these highly opinionated and divided times.
Nailed it. As a pastor, I struggle with the patriotic celebrations that are often expected within worship services. Thank you for providing me with something to think about.
